Ikbenstil Workstation

Optimal system for overall Lightroom Classic performance

Processor Intel Core Ultra 7
Memory 32GB DDR5 RAM
Videocard NVidia RTX 5060Ti

Lightroom has always suffered from predominantly single core CPU usage. Adobe has finally improved this, increasing Lightroom's performance. Some Ikbenstil Workstation users now even use Threadripper CPUs due to their extreme workloads.

Recommended system requirements for Lightroom Classic

Like most software makers, Adobe also has a list of system requirements for Lightroom Classic, a hardware list that you are advised to meet in order to use the program. This list of recommendations is not a guarantee for an optimally functioning Lightroom workstation, but provides the minimum requirement. The official information provided by software producers is not always up-to-date, and often lags behind hardware development which is progressing at breakneck speed. Therefore, Ikbenstil Computers equips this Lightroom Workstation with the most current and useful and balanced hardware for the program’s operation.

The hardware:

Processor (CPU): This workstation is now based on an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor. In recent years it has alternated between Intel and AMD. Lightroom has now improved in multi-threading, so processors with a higher core count can mean a performance gain. AMD Threadripper and the new Intel Xeons can be interesting here but are much more expensive.

The graphics card (GPU) A mid-range graphics card is sufficient to future-proof the system; Adobe makes minimal use of the GPU with Lightroom. We use a standard Nvidia graphics card by default, which offers more computing power and VRAM at lower cost compared to Nvidia’s Professional series. Our experience is that Nvidia cards work more stably with this software than AMD GPUs. Since Lightroom is often used in combination with Photoshop and Adobe’s widely used AI functions, an RTX 5060 Ti is certainly recommended.

Memory (RAM): Adobe recommends a minimum of 16GB of RAM, we recommend at least 32GB. If you work with large files and/or quantities of images to process, then 64GB RAM is recommended.

Storage: For the operating system and programs, we choose a fast NVMe SSD and for content storage an SSD with a SATA interface.

Custom build: Ikbenstil Computers has made workstations that align with standard workflows and the associated software. If your choice is not included here, you can contact one of our specialists, who can offer you a custom solution.
