Where does your AI come from?

Most companies and people who ever use Ai do so via the web interface of the usual vendors, you know who we mean. Works fine until that interface says hohohoh and unsubtly advises you to take out a subscription.

Where does your AI come from?

So you’re stuck with the subscription mentioned above, whilst in the meantime the competition has released yet another, far superior model. A second subscription, then? That quickly becomes expensive, and AI isn’t cheap to begin with. Another problem is the time factor and the tokens used. Many AI providers offer pro and max accounts that can be used for five consecutive hours, provided you don’t use too many tokens. To be clear: tokens are the phone credits of the AI era. With a slightly larger software project, these tokens are used up in no time. And then what? Stop? Tomorrow is another day?

So it’s extremely handy to have a provider that offers APIs where the rule is: pay as you go. Not cheap, but with unlimited availability (until the account needs topping up). Another advantage is the range on offer. The API distributors offer every possible AI model you could possibly need. Plus models that perform extremely well but cost next to nothing. Openrouter is one such provider, but even better for us Europeans: Cortecs.ai.

Cortecs is better in every respect. Because Cortecs is European. Austrian, to be precise. And Cortecs offers a host of AI models that are hosted within the EU and are GDPR-compliant. So your data stays in Europe, and that’s certainly a plus. We know plenty of IT professionals who aren’t allowed to use AI at work due to compliance rules. Cortecs can make a real difference here. In the settings, you can pre-select models that fit the compliance requirements, including EU-only models. Cortecs also offers a price advantage, with a clear explanation of how it’s calculated; Cortecs charges a percentage mark-up on the wholesale price. Compared to Openrouter, for example, the choice quickly falls on Cortecs. We’re very happy with it: no dropped connections, a great range of features and excellent documentation. Highly recommended, then. Buy EU.
