FLC Tunnel
Fehmarn Tunnel
Impressive European project that will connect Germany to Denmark via tunnel.
The Fehmarnbelt tunnel is the world’s longest underwater tunnel. The route is 18km long and connects Denmark with Germany. The tunnels accommodate trains, cars and lorries.
In our view, FLC Tunnel is one of the most impressive construction projects on earth. The technical challenges are legion. A tunnel on land is already a challenge, but 18,000 metres underwater is in a class of its own.
For instance, tunnel elements are precisely placed underwater by a specially developed vessel (which is actually two ships). Anyone with a bit of technical insight knows this is quite a challenge.

The tunnel has its own factory and its own port. Ultimately, after completion, one can drive from Denmark to Germany by car in 10 minutes, by train it will be 7 minutes.
