Nieuwe Hardware 2026-2027 - Deel 3 - GPU
Deel 3 van onze kijk vooruit, dit keer GPU's. Het meest opvallend is wat er niet gebeurt: aangekondigde GPU's worden gecanceld, de RTX 5090 is EOL want nVidia gebruikt deze chips liever voor Pro kaarten (waarvoor nVidia drie keer de prijs vraagt). De door nVidia aangekondigde Vera Rubin chips worden vooralsnog enkel voor datacenter gebruik gemaakt en AMD en Intel gaan daar in mee.

New hardware 2026/2027 — Part 1: CPUs (desktop)
Last year the story was: Zen 5 versus Arrow Lake on AM5 and LGA1851. This year the story is: almost nothing appeared. AMD pushed Zen 6 on the desktop to early 2027 (servers get first dibs on TSMC's 2nm capacity), Intel did the same with Nova Lake. What 2026 brought to the desktop was supplementary rather than replacement: AMD's double V-Cache halo chip and Intel's Arrow Lake do-over.

Nieuwe hardware 2026/2027 — Deel 2 - Geheugen (RAM & NAND)
2026 was het jaar van de RAM apocalypse, zover. Zoals het er nu voor staat gaat dit leiden tot een structurele verandering in de geheugen markt sinds de fabrikanten lange termijn contracten afsluiten met de grootste partijen, wil zeggen de techbros met hun AI hype. Er werden wel nieuwe productie faciliteiten aangekondigd, alleen een fabriek voor geheugen chips bouwen duurt gemiddeld 2 a 3 jaar. Vooralsnog is het volstrekt onduidelijk hoe de beschikbaarheid er in het volgende jaar uit zal zien. Hoe dan ook: VRAM en RAM zijn de belangrijkste hardware onderdelen voor AI en fabricanten blijven claimen dat zij niet aan de vraag kunnen voldoen.
